A sense of (social) purpose

Viewhear is a social enterprise media company, primarily producing high quality impact / promotion films for charities, community groups and small businesses.

We deliver a high quality video production service that is different, we use our profits to support communities and give them a voice.

Our social mission is to give a voice to the voiceless.

We want to build people and organisations confidence to express and value their stories, their lives.

To do this we run projects supporting people with various life challenges, (disability, poverty, mental health issues, loneliness etc) giving them the opportunity to tell the world what life feels like for them. Expressing how it feels to be excluded, to be treated unfairly and to be seen by society as having less worth.

We teach people to write, film and produce videos that tell their stories no matter their background or personal situation.

Our vision:
Our vision is a world where everyone’s story is heard.

Our values:

  • Everyone deserves to be heard
  • We believe in fairness and compassion
  • Motivated by the community
  • Never judge people’s stories

My background has been predominantly working with older people. When I left school I worked in a care home for many years, before starting a family.

For the last 12 years I have worked with the charity “The Whitleigh Big Local”
I was employed with them as “the community worker for older people”. In this role I do a lot of work to combat social isolation. I run a few different groups where they come to a place for food and company. I also arrange many trips through the year to take them out of Plymouth for the day.

Alongside this I also work on many community projects within the Whitleigh area. This is a very rewarding job. I do also work in a pub at weekends, serving beverages and doing the karaoke for the customers.
